This has been a significant theme for me this year. It has been an incredibly full-on year for us, more so than usual. More than ever, my time and energy have been pulled in many different directions, making it difficult to prioritise the things I need to in order to grow, move forward, and feel in flow. Although challenging at times, the valuable lesson I’ve taken away is learning how to get back into flow instantly.
What does flow feel like from my perspective?
Rather than pulling up a definition from Google, I’d love to share my own interpretation—but I encourage you to explore it for yourself as well.
For me, flow feels expansive, like I’m taking the right, aligned actions. It’s a sense of continuous growth. Flow is when I am deeply connected to my “WHY?” - Why I’m doing what I do - and feel in tune with the next steps of my journey. Flow is when I can lean into trust, even in the uncertain times. It’s when I’m a team player with my partner and a collaborator with my mind. When I’m in flow I’m grateful for what I have, content for where I am and looking through the lens of abundance.
What’s been going on in my current reality….
The reason this has come up for me in such a big way is that I’ve had to prioritise a handful of things before myself. I’ve also had fearful thoughts about losing flow and not being able to get back into it.
Being the curious person I am, I saw this fear as an opportunity to explore how I can become more fluid with flow.
The past six months have been mentally and energetically demanding for me. My husband, Max, is an artist, and he’s working towards two big deadlines, which have to be the top priority for both him and us. This means that our side business and the kids have become my main focus. They always are, of course, but usually, we can share the load more equally. To give Max credit, he absolutely helps when he can.
Lately, my flow has been constantly interrupted, and my energy has been stretched thin for the first time in a very long time. For the past 10 years or so, I’ve prioritised my energy and feeling good. I still do, of course, but I haven’t been able to keep up with my practices the way I’d like to.
Instead of feeling like a victim of the situation (which is very much our choice and what we’ve created) I’ve been focusing on figuring out how to step back into flow when the opportunity arises.
Another thing I’ve been grappling with is feeling a bit paralysed when it comes to deciding what I should do with my very precious time.
How I get back into flow instantly
Flow is very much about being grounded and connected to the actions you are taking or not taking. To find flow instantly, I reconnect with a few key elements:
Mantra statement – This is a powerful statement that keeps me aligned with my vision and the version of myself I want to amplify.
Core values – I revisit my core values to help me discern what truly deserves my focus.
Goals & desires – While staying connected to my values, I keep my goals and desires at the forefront of my mind and take the next step towards them in alignment with those values.
I’ve found these practices incredibly effective for bringing me back into flow and alignment in the moment. However, it’s essential you’re doing some ground work each day.
What you need to priorities daily?
One word - MINDSET
Life will always bring challenges, uncertainty, and demands. To navigate this, you have to prime your cognitive function each day to ensure your mindset is in a place that supports you.
Here are a few ways to do this (though there are many more!):
Uncover limiting beliefs that are holding you back.
Rewire those limiting beliefs into empowering ones.
Celebrate and acknowledge your wins each day.
Cultivate an abundance mindset.
Be in gratitude and appreciation each day for what you have.
In short, flow comes and goes, and that’s perfectly okay. Whether you’re in a phase of deep flow or, like me, finding yourself pulled in and out of it, there’s always something valuable to learn. When flow slips away, it’s not a failure—it’s a signal. Maybe it’s urging you to reconnect with your core values, inviting you to make a change, or simply telling you you’re at capacity and need a shift. Whatever the reason, view it with curiosity. Every dip out of flow is an opportunity to realign and grow.
Have you tried my signature practice?
I’ve revamped my signature practice, the ‘Positivity Booster’. This 5-minute exercise is designed to help you feel more positive in your mind and uplifted in your body.
If you’ve tried it before, give it another go—I've made some tweaks that I believe make it even more powerful. If you haven’t tried it yet, commit to giving it a go one morning or whenever you're feeling a bit off.
I’d love to see you in person!
